Commercials With Good Meanings Part 1

Good Life Anthem– Allstate

“There are man-eating sharks in every ocean but we still swim. Every second somewhere in the world lightning strikes but we still play in the rain. Poisonous snakes can be found in 49 of the 50 states but we still go looking for adventure. A car can crash.  A house can crumble but we still drive and love coming home. Because I think deep down we know all the bad things that can happen in life, they can’t stop us from making our lives good.” (quote found from GratitudeActually)

This is an absolutely beautiful quote that hold so much truth is so little words. I especially love how the child is saying it. It somehow helps to make a bigger impact. It’s, also, one-hundred percent true! There are so many things we do that could go wrong, from the small things (i.e. cutting fruit, running, etc.) to larger things (i.e. driving a car, riding in a plane, etc.). It baffles me that, even though these commercials are meant to pull us in and make us want whatever that company is selling, no one ever just stops and closes their eyes to listen to the words.

Your Verse– iPad Air

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here – that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be? ” (quote found from ZDNet)

I love that iPad is using the Dead Poet Society, not because it is selling its tablets but because the book and movie are getting more exposure. This is one of my favorite quotes from the Dead Poet Society, other than “Oh, captain, my captain”. It’s meaning is so much deeper than any ocean, telling us that art, in any and every form, is a beautiful contribution from Man. That we have a reason for being here and poetry captures every moment of our existence; including the feelings we feels, the events we experience, and the love ones we see off.
