I love the ocean. I love boats and sand and fish. I love the mystery and the thrill of the waves and danger.
Last week, I went on one of the more awe-inspiring journeys of a lifetime. I traveled the Catalina Island 22 miles off the coast of Long Beach, California and was given the opportunity to study the island’s inhabitants, rocks, and flora.
My favorite part of the whole adventure was kayaking and snorkeling and just getting to be in the same world as the sting rays I swam with and the sharks I watched on the pier.
This whole trip just solidified my desire to live on or near the ocean; to wake up every morning and jump into the world that I have always wanted to be a part of.
Sometimes I feel like I’m pursuing the wrong major. I feel like I should be doing journalism or marine biology, but then I remember how versatile my degree is and how, even with a psychology degree, I can live on an island and find a job that will make it easy to do so.
I hope you have all enjoyed your spring breaks and weekends and I hope you enjoy all of the pictures I have for you.
